We know what we need in our daily lives to be prepared- office supplies, a gym bag, or a ladies purse. So why not also keep an emergency kit in your vehicles for any scenario? We spend a lot of time in our cars, and we don’t want to go without our essentials. This kit can be divided into many different categories, but we have compiled a list of a few things that we like to include for reference.
Phone Charger
Let’s face it, we depend heavily on our cell phones. It is our way of communicating with the outside world, and we definitely don’t want to be without it in an emergency situation or without guidance. Keeping a phone charger in your vehicle is a great idea so that you can make important calls if necessary. It might also be beneficial to keep a powered-up external battery just in case!
Water
Water is essential for survival, especially in extreme heat like we sometimes get here in Cincinnati. This is why it makes our list of essential items to have in your car. Staying hydrated helps us humans function better, which we need to be able to do to meet the needs of our busy lives!
Jumper Cables
Alright, we admit this one is useless if you don’t know how to use them or if you can’t flag down a willing helper! There are multiple useful tutorials available online to help you, but we highly recommend having a pair of jumper cables in case your battery needs a little kick in the pants to get going. If you’re shy, you might also consider investing in a portable jump starter so you wont need cables. Again, just make sure you know how to use them.
Multi-Purpose Tool with Flashlight
There are some great options for this on Amazon,and this is one we suggest purchasing right away if you don’t already have one! In an emergency where you need to escape quickly, there are simply not many alternatives for a seatbelt cutter or window breaker. If it’s dark out, you also need to be able to see so look for one that includes a flashlight! You might not expect a compact tool to provide so many benefits, but just take a moment to think about the times you may have needed something like this- we are sure a memory comes to mind.
